In order to reach out to needy children and marginalized women, we started CSA Trust in 1993. Currently the Trust provides educational assistance to over 1200 children in distress, runs a special school for 110 children with disabilities and have organized women groups in 52 dalit and tribal hamlets, catering to about 1500 women. Our project site is located 145 kilometers from Bangalore. I am 51 years old and have spent most of my life working with children, youth and women in distress. As a child, I grew up dreaming of being of service to the poorest and the needy...!!! I am happy that I got an opportunity to convert this dream into a reality at a very young age... In 1975, I came in contact with a French Canadian Catholic Priest (Fr. John Desrohcers), from whom I learned about the working of society and what it means to be socially committed. I have since completed my formal education in social work and since 1993 is directly involved in making this world a better place to live in for all, especially for those in distress. I am supported in my work by my loving wife (Amitha) and our three children (Anju, Anu and Amit). My wife is an educationist by profession but since 1998 works with me. For a living, both of us have an assignment with Caritas Germany, responsible for administrative follow up of some of the projects they support in India with BMZ funds.
