William R. Greene - Software Engineer - Chapel Hill, NC - About me: Born an Air Force brat at Eglin AFB, Florida, I lived in Hawaii and Maryland before settling down at my ancestral home of Stokes County, North Carolina.I got hooked on writing software as a 16-year-old student at the NC Governor's School.I met my future wife Allison when we were both students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My son Austin was also born in Greensboro.I began programming professionally for the Air Force Human Resources Laboratory near Denver, Colorado, took Masters' courses at the University of Colorado at Denver. At the compiler house SofTech in Waltham, Massachusetts, I developed run-time support for their AdaVAX and Ada86 compilers. At Apollo Computer, I helped port the Verdix Ada compiler to the AEGIS operating system. When Allison, then working at Digital Equipment Corp., got an opportunity to move to Morrisville, NC, we seized it, settling in Chapel Hill. Since then, my career has been less coherent, if more diverse. I have worked at two start-ups: Tangram Systems Corp. and Ganymede Software Inc., and at IBM, among other places.
