Leadership with a vision and commitment Ranked as one the most powerful youth leader in India,Subhash Chowdhary entered into student politics in his early years with grit and determination to empower students at all level and channelise their energy for constructive work. First elected as Executive Councillor of Delhi University Students Union, the then Congress President Indira Gandhi noticed the spark of leadership in him and appointed him as the General Secretary of National Students Union of India, Congress student wing. Mr Chowdhary actively participated in all agitations against the high handed policies of the then Janata Party government under the leadership of late Sanjay Gandhi and was imprisoned several times. After the return of Congress to power in 1980, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi elevated him as National President of the NSUI a post which he held till 1983.
