Prince Simunyu Brevard College All-American

Prince Simunyu entered Brevard College in 2008 on a 4 yr. football scholarship from Wake Field High school in Raleigh, NC. At the height of 6'-2" and weight 210, his position in high school was linebacker. Simunyu entered Brevard College Tornados Football as an Outside Linebacker for his freshman season. The Tornados Football program under Coach Paul Hamilton was in its infancy when Simunyu enter as a freshman. The Brevard College Tornados Football program had very limited resources. After working with his personal trainer during the summer and holding down a full time job, Prince begin his 2011 season as South Atlantic Conference first team Linebacker at height 6'-2" and weight of 230. He moved up from exceedingly outstanding to great. Simunyu led the Brevard College Tornados defense to be an extraordinary leader for his team. His Coach moved him to Middle Linebacker where he more than excelled at his new position. Simunyu had a career high-18 tackles for the Tornados in his final game at home. He finished the season as the South Atlantic Conference leading tackler with 112 tackles. Prince received All-Conference honors three times, first team All-SAC his last two seasons and second team defense his sophomore season. Simunyu ranks twenty-first in the nation, Division II, at the Linebacker position with 10.18 tackles per game. He was also All-time leading tackler behind the line of scrimmage. Prince Simunyu was one of three Brevard Tornados players selected to the D2 All-American Bowl in Minneapolis in December. He was one of ten finalists for the 2011 Powerrated Sports All-Bilo D2 Linebacker of the year. Simunyu also was selected to the Don Hansen All-Super Region Division II team. From there, he was selected to the 2011 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American team. This is every athlete's highest achievement. Simunyu is quoted on Pro Intellect & Trained Sports (P.I.T.S.) saying "I take football very seriously and I'm the kind of person that strongly believes that the harder a person works outside of football, the more dominant he will be under the lights"
