It is the annual custom of the Chiang Mai ToyRide Committee to visit a local hospital on Christmas Eve. This year we again visited Maharaj (Suan Dok) Hospital. There really isn’t much I can say that is not said much better by browsing through the photos. Please take a few minutes and have a look. The CMTR provides our Santa Claus, Toys and other gifts. The hospital staff provide support and a warm welcome. The children provide the heartwarming smiles……………………

June 24, 2010 we were riding to Huai Nam Khao School where we donated educational materials, athletic equipment, school bags and toys. We had lunch with the children and of course fun and games along with our CMTR Clowns...... See first event picture posted by GT Riders.

»Charity«  - totally private A perfect example how everybody can do something »Good« ! In May 2009 we experienced, together with our Thai teacher, »Charity« from a totally private side. Our teacher had birthday and instead of making a big party, she and her twin sister decided to do something «Good». Their idea impressed us very much so that we immediately decided to participate. Now at Maria's birthday we followed that idea once again ...... The idea: »To arrange lunch for elderly people in need who are living in an old people's home« So together with 2 friends, we went out and bought food for lunch. Fried noodles, soup, cakes, local deserts as well as many different types of fruits. After shopping,  we were going to the old people's home nearby Chiang Mai. The food was prepared and the elderly people were gathering for eating. It was very nice to see the happiness in their faces. Not only the food, which was for sure a good alternative compared to the regular menu, it was also the fact that other people were taking care about them which made them happy. It was once again a very, very nice day and we could realize again that you can do so much good thing with little effort ...... If you think about, what can be better than giving happiness and good time to other people especially those in need ? An idea, everyone can do, not only in Asia. Maria and Joachim

A Kachin/Akha community desperately needed a pre-school. The Chiang Mai ToyRide joined resources with the Chiang Mai Hiking Group to help….. The idea of setting up a pre-school in this remote Kachin village was conceived by an NGO volunteer who is also a “member” of the Chiang Mai Hiking Group. The hiking group sought and received donations to support this project in terms of salary for the teachers and reconstruction of an old nursery school building. The goal is for this pre-school to be sustained and managed by the villagers after the first year. This preschool will be used by Kachin and Akha children. Why is a pre-school needed? We all know that little children have an insatiable curiosity and a natural desire to learn more about the world around them! But not every parent is in a position to provide the stimulus and encouragement that a child needs, especially when they have been displaced from another country, and they are struggling to earn a living. This pre-school will introduce the children for the very first time to the excitement of learning from colourful books, and educational toys & games. Our aim is to help establish a pre school in Banmai and to support the pre-school during its first year or so of operation, until it is fully independent and financially sustainable. My wife and myself are proud to be part of this project which aims again to HELP CHILDREN IN NEED.

Chiang Mais biggest local daily newspaper in Thailands Northern Metropolian city, published a report about Chiang Mai´s first incredible Octoberfestival, sunday the 21st of September 2009. The charity festival, which will take place the 17th of October 2009 in Chiang Mai, is organized of Thailandfreunde e.V.. A social organization which was founded and is led by Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon. The press report is published in Thai language and giving the information to the public which were told at a press conference about the charity event. The press conference took place the 16th of September 2009 in Chiang Mai.
