My name is Bruno Herzer. From various sources I've heard that the name change sound gone through has a heart and come to Harzer probably. The ancestors would therefore resin collectors, possibly amber collector (yes Amber is a fossilized resin.) There are so many family names that have changed due to name changes, errors of the registrar, arbitrary changes. It might be, for example, that a town clerk has written the first vowel sloppy (instead of "Ha" is a "He") and even the name change was "officially".
