The name of the Lower Rhine Kuhlen comes from the lower Rhine manor "diggin, Kaul, kauhlen, couler," which belonged to the abbey Knechtsteden later. The "Honnschaftsname" that appears in Electoral Cologne cards yet, is now gone (brown coal mining?). References I will submit yet.
